When teams are relegated from the Premier League on CM, it is a good opportunity to snap up their best players, as often they are happy to leave to remain in the top flight of English football.

Sheffield United, Burnley, and Luton Town all look on course for the drop this season, and these players should be on your shortlist.

Dara O’Shea (Burnley)

Ireland defender Dara O’Shea was Burnley’s first signing this summer. They spent £7 million on securing the centre back from Championship club West Bromwich Albion. This has been his second spell in the Premier League, as he also featured for the Baggies in the 2020/21 campaign.

Burnley are now 1/14 in the relegation odds from Betfair. If they do get relegated, O’Shea is unlikely to want to drop back down to the Championship. He has worked hard to get the opportunity with the Clarets, and for him to kick on with his career, he will feel he will need to stay in the top flight.

O’Shea is a regular for his national team in the heart of their defence. He will want to impress new Ireland head coach John O’Shea as they bid to qualify for the World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico in 2026.

Elijah Adebayo (Luton Town)

Luton Town forward Elijah Adebayo is on course for one of the best campaigns of his career. He is set to end the season in double figures in the Premier League goals standings. If the Hatters do manage to survive the drop, the striker will have played a huge role.

After leaving Fulham in 2019, Adebayo had to work his way back up the pyramid. He found himself at League Two club Walsall before moving to Luton in 2021. The player is now being linked with the Nigeria national team as he is showing his class in the Premier League.

Adebayo scored a fantastic hat-trick in Luton’s 4-0 victory over Brighton back in January, as reported by the BBC. If he is to make the leap to international football for the Super Eagles, Adebayo will need to stay in the Premier League and keep scoring goals at the highest level.

Gustavo Hamer (Sheffield United)

Brazil-born Dutch midfielder Gustavo Hamer cost Sheffield United £15 million to move from Coventry City in the summer, and he has proved to be a bargain. This has been his debut campaign in the Premier League, and it is where he belongs.

Hamer has scored three goals this season, including on his debut against Nottingham Forest. That was a brilliant strike to get off the mark. However, it is not just his quality in front of goal that has been impressive about Hamer, his work rate has been exceptional too.

One of Hamer’s best games of the campaign so far came against defending champions Manchester City. He relished the challenge of that contest. Expect to see a lot of interest in his services this summer.

Good luck trying to snap up the above three players. Hopefully, they help improve your team and turn out to be bargains.
