successfully fighting fires\u00a0in the midst of a relegation battle in the 2014\/15 season that had led to\u00a0the sacking of previous incumbent, Stefano Colantuono.<\/p>\n<p>However, at the end of the 2015\/16 season Reja got\u00a0Pulis&#8217;d &#8211; the board got tired of his negative, defensive tactics and wanted change in order to move La Dea forward.<\/p>\n<p>For some reason uunbeknown to all but the gods (ignoring\u00a0the part about me controlling the game and putting myself in charge), they selected me.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thehighertempopress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/job-confirmation.png\" alt=\"job-confirmation\" width=\"961\" height=\"173\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, I can\u00a0speak fluent Italian and have obtained my Continental Pro Licence &#8211; what luck!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thehighertempopress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/info.jpeg\" alt=\"info\" width=\"1500\" height=\"183\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll be using that grasp of Italian to ask what has ticked off Messrs Boscaglia, Brocchi, Rastelli and Gasperini\u00a0so early on.<\/p>\n<p>Sinisa\u00a0Mihajlovic, however, is very welcome to think what he wants. \u00a0I&#8217;d almost go as far as to say I&#8217;d completely agree with\u00a0any of his constructive feedback\u00a0regarding our relationship\u00a0and try to change to how he wants me to be. \u00a0Just don&#8217;t hit me, Sinisa.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thehighertempopress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/profile.png\" alt=\"profile\" width=\"1440\" height=\"736\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After meetings with chairman Antonio Percassi, I sat down with my assistant manager Alberto Bollini to see how the first team squad would shape up.<\/p>\n<p>As discussed in the previous post, Atalanta are an established Serie A club and this is\u00a0reflected in their squad &#8211; solid if unspectacular.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehighertempopress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/first-team.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thehighertempopress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/first-team-1024x775.jpeg\" alt=\"first-team\" width=\"640\" height=\"484\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The spine of the squad is\u00a0reasonably strong in terms of being able to match\u00a0our expectations this season &#8211; all 3.5 stars or above.<\/p>\n<p>The Under 20&#8217;s and Under 18&#8217;s have a number of hot prospects as well, though I will probably loan them out\/let them play junior football for this season.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehighertempopress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/youth-sqauds.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thehighertempopress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/youth-sqauds-948x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"youth-sqauds\" width=\"640\" height=\"691\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In regards to the first team, Marco Sportiello is\u00a0a good option between the sticks; Rafael Tol\u00f3i and on-loan Gabriel Paletta look to make an ideal Ferdinand\/Vidic-esque partnership of beauty and beastliness; Jasmin Kurtic and Carlos Carmona will bring\u00a0a nice mix of creativeness and destructiveness while there are\u00a0options up top with one-time Swansea failure Alberto Paloschi and the acrobatic, overhead-kick-loving Mauricio Pinilla.<\/p>\n<p>There is also much expected of Alejandro Gomez, the diminutive Argentinian who will hopefully provide the bullets for Pinilla or\u00a0Paloschi to fire &#8211; providing Alberto has\u00a0learnt from his time in South Wales and brings a gun that doesn&#8217;t fall to pieces once he gets inside the penalty area.<\/p>\n<p>After a period of tinkering, tweaking and tittering\u00a0(Bollini has one of those pens that if you tip it upside down the lady in the pen&#8217;s bikini falls off) &#8211; we have come up with the following formations for the upcoming season;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehighertempopress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/formations.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thehighertempopress.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/formations.jpeg\" alt=\"formations\" width=\"896\" height=\"668\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>One is a *tad* more defensive than the other. \u00a0This will be used when we&#8217;re trying to avoid a walloping at Juventus, Napoli, Fiorentina, Roma, Lazio, Milan, Int&#8230;.God this could\u00a0be a long season.<\/p>\n<p>In the next instalment, I will go through any transfers I make, round up pre-season and hopefully even play some real football that actually matters &#8211;
