Last weekend, Liverpool lifted the Carabao Cup, beating Chelsea 1-0 in extra-time of the final courtesy of a Virgil van Dijk goal. Jurgen Klopp’s team finished the game with several youngsters on the field, including Conor Bradley, Jarell Quansah, James McConnell, Bobby Clark and Jayden Danns.

Although most of the starlets didn’t feature for long, it was a promising sign for Liverpool and the club’s academy. However, which young Liverpool players are wonderkids on FM24?

While they may be shining in real life, off the top of my head, none of the young players seem to fulfil their potential in my FM24 games.

There could be many different reasons why this happens, but from my personal saves, it seems to be that they just don’t get enough football and usually end up off the radar.

Looking at the data editor, the likes of Quansah, Danns and McConnell don’t have big potential in the game compared to other highly-rated players.

Bradley has a potential of -8 on the updated database, which I have only used for one save, while Clark has the same rating. I have seen Clark become a good player in past saves, though.

Maybe these players could fulfil their potential in future games, as there are always players who seem to enjoy better careers when their stats have been updated.

Ironically, other Liverpool youngsters have better stats in the game and sometimes fulfil their potential. The one standout is a youngster who has featured a fair bit for the Reds is Spanish midfielder Stefan Bajcetic, who has a potential of -9 on the game.

The youngster is 18 when the first season starts in FM24 and tends to fare better than his contemporaries in the game. In real life, the youngster has made just two appearances for Liverpool this season due to injuries.

However, he made 19 appearances in season 2022/23 and likely would have featured in the Carabao Cup win if he wasn’t sidelined through injury. However, reports suggest he is close to a return to fitness.

Another highly rated player is Scottish youngster Ben Doak, who, at 17, also has a rating of -9 at the start of the game. The youngster is highly regarded at Anfield and is usually the player who develops the best on my FM24 saves.
