As most FM players will know, every summer some of the best wonderkids from the previous edition of the game are snapped up. Then another batch of youngsters emerge, and it’s a case of rinse and repeat.
However, there are still some FM26 wonderkids that could be big in FM27. Here are just some of those wonderkids:
Gilberto Mora (Tijuana)

The midfielder is without a doubt one of the most promising young players in the world. The 17-year-old was a familiar name to FM26 players. He furthered his reputation by appearing for Mexico at the 2026 World Cup, becoming one of the youngest players to play in the competition.
It is surprising that a high-profile European club haven’t yet signed the youngster. It is only a matter of time before he is whisked away, so we have to enjoy signing Mora while we can.
In most of my FM27 saves, he becomes one of the best and most highly rated players in the game. Unfortunately, Manchester City usually signs him in one of the first windows, which makes him extremely hard to get.
He is usually reluctant to move to Europe until he turns 18, as he won’t be eligible to join a European club until then. At the start of FM26, he is 16 and only on a youth contract with Tijuana, so they would technically receive only compensation. He is valued between £4.6m and £6.8m.
His stats are impressive, as you would expect for a promising young player. The highlights are a rating of 16 for technique and flair. Usually, such a standout young player would get a boost in stats in the next edition of the game. However, his stats are already strong in FM26, but he is likely to receive a slight boost in FM27 due to his development since the last game was released.
Givairo Read (Feyenoord)

If it wasn’t for an injury, the young full-back is unlikely to be on our list. The 20-year-old gained many admirers in the 2024/25 season, having produced seven assists and scored two goals in the Eredivisie in his breakthrough senior campaign.
The young Dutchman was linked with several high-profile clubs in the summer of 2025. However, he remained in Rotterdam. Unfortunately for the youngster, a five-month injury layoff meant he played just 16 times in the Eredivisie last season, though he still managed three assists.
However, he is now back to full fitness and has returned to playing for Feyenoord this season. Like Mora, it may only be a matter of time before he moves on, as he is regarded by many as having the potential to become the complete full-back.
Read has decent stats all around on FM26, but no standout ones. His starting stats are high enough to see him improve rapidly, and in many of my saves, he is one of the best full-backs in the game by the time he hits his mid-20s.
Injury may have hampered Read’s development, so the young defender’s stats may well be around the same on FM27 as FM26, but that’s not a tragedy, as they were high enough to make him a very good player. The fact that his starting value on FM26 is £68m-81m illustrates just how highly the full-back is rated.
Kees Smit (AZ)

Like his compatriot Read, Kees Smit is another promising youngster with strong starting stats on FM26. His highest rating is 15 for technique, first touch, dribbling and vision, all good attributes to have as a midfield player.
The midfielder’s stats grow impressively after a few seasons, and he becomes a highly impressive player in the middle of the park. His high stats explain why he is valued at between £42 and £62m.
Smit enjoyed a solid campaign with AZ, scoring five goals and providing ten assists in all competitions, including four in the UEFA Conference League.
The 20-year-old is likely to see a slight boost to his stats for FM27. This is unlikely to make him any easier to sign, as he will be in-demand and his price tag is likely to remain high.
Jorthy Mokio (Ajax)

The versatile Belgian U-21, who is yet another Eredivisie FM26 wonderkid, will still be in the Dutch top flight in FM27. Mokio enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in Amsterdam last season, scoring five goals and producing three assists, despite playing in several different positions.
For such a young player, Mokio had strong stats at the start of FM26, as his reputation was growing. Having impressed in the 2025/26 season, Mokio has already scored this season for the Amsterdammers.
Mokio could be one to watch in real life this season, and in FM27. However, considering his successful season, he may well see his value, as well as his starting stats, increase.
