Our next stop on our world tour of FM26 wonderkids from different nations is Mexico. The North American country has made its mark on the football world with the national team producing solid displays at major international tournaments.

Meanwhile, some of the country’s players have starred in the world’s biggest football leagues. Here are our favourite young Mexican players who are looking to emulate the country’s former heroes:

Gilberto Mora (Tijuana)

At just 16, Gilberto Mora is regarded as one of the brightest young players in FM26, not just Mexican youngsters. His stats for a player so young are highly promising. The fact that he has +15 for flair, technique and first touch illustrates where the youngster’s qualities lie.

It is important to sign Mora early in the game. However, he can’t make a move to European leagues in the first few transfer windows due to his age. In my latest game, he joined Manchester City for £8m at 18.

I was managing Everton and managed to loan him for two seasons. During those two seasons, the versatile attacking midfielder’s stats skyrocketed. In another save, I signed him in his prime, around 25, for a big fee, and he was prolific in goals and assists.

Hugo Camberos (Guadalajara)

The 18-year-old’s starting stats are not quite as impressive as Mora’s, but the attacking midfielder does still have some promising stats at the beginning of the game. The youngsters’ highest attributes are +14 for technique, dribbling, first touch and flair.

After a few seasons, his stats develop rapidly, and he is a highly effective right-winger at Premier League level.

The fact that Camberos is available for around £7m, plus add-ons, makes him an even better signing. In one of my latest saves, Manchester City bought him for a fee of around £12m after a few transfer windows.

However, he struggled to break into their first team and returned to his homeland, where he flourished and earned a move back to Europe with Dortmund.

Rodrigo Huescas (FC København)

Huescas is older still than the first two players on our list, and has already made his move to Europe, joining Danish giants FC København in the summer of 2024, signing a five-year deal.

Huescas, who can play as both a right-back and a right-winger, made a promising start to the 2025-26 campaign, picking up four assists in the first ten games. Unfortunately for the youngster, he picked up a knee injury in October 2025, which ruled him out for the rest of the season.

Huescas’ starting stats are solid on FM26, with his highest attribute being +15 for crossing and aggression. He also has +14 for passing, work rate, stamina, pace and acceleration.

On most saves, his stats improve if he is given game time, but occasionally, if he moves to a big club, his development can stall, preventing him from fulfilling his potential.

In the opening transfer window, Huescas can be signed for around £13m, plus the almost obligatory 40 per cent sell-on fee. That fee can be negotiated, but for me, even that fee is a bargain.

Elias Montiel (Pachuca)

The 19-year-old defensive midfielder is something of a hidden gem. He starts the game in his homeland at Pachuca, but is usually snapped up fairly quickly by a club in Europe due to his promising stats and potential.

His highest stat at the start of the game is 18 for vision, with 16 in teamwork, technique and passing. Montiel’s other stats are also strong, and they grow with game time. He develops into a very good Premier League-standard player.

Montiel can cost as little as £10m, plus a 40 per cent sell-on fee, which is an absolute steal in my book. The only caveat to signing Montiel is that he may not be in the player database, depending on what leagues you have loaded at the start of the game.

Obed Vargas (Atlético Madrid)

The US-born Mexican international made his name in the beautiful game at Seattle Sounders. His performances in the MLS earned him a big move to Spanish giants Atletico Madrid in the 2026 January transfer window.

Vargas is 19 at the beginning of the game, and his potential is reflected in his solid stats. Although he doesn’t have many standout stats, he has solid stats all around with 13 in tackling, passing, marking and work rate, amongst others.

Those stats do tend to grow, and he becomes a very good player in the Premier League, even if he doesn’t quite make world-class.

Strangely enough, the move to Atletico has made it easier to sign Vargas. He is rated at £7m, but his contract includes a release clause of £9.25m.

The only issue with signing Vargas in the first window is that he may be reluctant to leave Los Colchoneros so soon after making the move. If he doesn’t sign a new contract, then maybe attempt to sign him a few windows in.
