Silvino Louro (Free Agent)

For as long as I can remember, the Portuguese has been one of the best goalkeeping coaches in the game. The 66-year-old’s top attributes are that he is elite in both motivating and determination. He is also outstanding in authority.

The fact that he has very good stats for goalkeeping, possession and people management plays a key role in his overall ability as a coach.

Louro’s coaching quality is illustrated by his employment by Real Madrid, Chelsea, Inter, Manchester United, and the Portugal national team. He has often been part of Jose Mourinho’s coaching staff.

One major plus for Louro is also that he is a free agent, so you won’t have to pay a club compensation for his services.

Taffarel (Free Agent)

The former Brazil international is up there with the best goalkeeping coaches you can employ. In the last two decades, Taffarel has had spells working for Galatasaray, the Brazil national team and also Liverpool.

However, he is not just highly regarded in real life. The 59-year-old’s attributes match his reputation on FM26. The highest of his stats is outstanding for goalkeeping, adaptability and determination.

He also has a plethora of very good attributes, including possession, technical, motivating, authority and people management, which are all good stats for any coach to have in his toolbox.

Like Louro, Taffarel is a free agent at the start of the game. There is one caveat: because of his reputation, he will only join top clubs, which could make him difficult to sign.

Adriano Bonaiuti (Free Agent)

Yet another talented goalkeeping coach who starts the game as a free agent. The 58-year-old has outstanding attributes in goalkeeping, motivating and people management.

His attributes of authority and determination are rated very good, while his tactical, possession, and tactical knowledge are rated good. All the Italian’s attributes add up to a very good coach.

Unlike the top two coaches on our list, the Italian is more open to working for less high-profile clubs. His wage demands of £2,300 per week are unlikely to break the bank.

The fact that Bonaiuti has coached at the likes of Roma and Inter illustrates his quality. He is an ideal coach for a mid-level Premier League club, although he wouldn’t be out of place at an elite club.

Claudio Filippi (Milan)

Unfortunately, unlike many of the goalkeeping coaches on our list, Filippi is not a free agent, as he is currently contracted to Milan. However, if you prise the 60-year-old away from the Rossoneri, then he is worth the compensation fee, as he is one of the best goalkeeping coaches in the game.

There are few goalkeeping coaches in FM26 with the elite rating for goalkeeping coaching, but Filippi is one of them. He also has a very good rating for possession, determination and motivating, with the last two attributes a common thread among top coaches.

In real life, Filippi was the goalkeeping coach at Juventus from 2010 until 2024, when he joined Milan, illustrating his quality.

Rogerio Godoy (Palmeiras)

Although Godoy doesn’t have any elite or outstanding attributes, his all-around attributes are strong. His very good attributes include goalkeeping, working with youngsters, authority, determination, motivating and negotiating, with the last one an unexpected attribute to have for a goalkeeping coach.

The 54-year-old has had a long career in coaching, starting as a goalkeeping coach in 2005 at minnows Sao Jose in his homeland. He has since had a spell at Brazilian giants Gremio from 2005 until 2020, before joining his current club, Palmeiras, in 2020.

Godoy has a preference for which clubs he joins. If you are a mid-table Premier League club, then he is unlikely to agree to join. However, it is always worth trying to negotiate, as he may be willing to discuss terms with the right club.
