The problem of the assistant manager: Anglo-Saxan Chronicle 26

In my judgement, FC Saxan’s incumbent assistant manager, Ivan Burduniuc, is pretty hopeless. Apparently he’s an adaptable chap. But being prepared to move from one thing to another isn’t much good if there’s nothing you’re any good at.

I decide that he can apply his adaptability to coping with redundancy.

Given my approach to other staff appointments, you might expect me to design a protocol for appointing assistant managers. I’m not sure that would make much sense, though, for the appointment of an assistant manager is a heavily contextual decision. It is less a matter of absolutes, more a matter of how the guy complements others – especially myself.

What I’ll design, therefore, is not so much a protocol as an ad hoc specification.
